종교의 “중국화” 확립 진행이 계속되면서 불교 사찰은 정부의 압박을 느끼며 타협해야만 했다. 산시(陝西)성 정부는 종교 의식 및 소유물에 민족 의식과 선전을 포함시킬 것을 사찰에 지시했다. 사찰이 정부의 통제에 들어가는 이러한 압박은 점점 종교 신앙 ‘중국화’를 밀고 나가는 과정을 보여준다.
