중국의 대규모 불교도를 통제하기 어려운 것이 두려운 중국 정권은 종교 상징물 제거에 박차를 가하고 있다.

‘신장의 아이들을 통제하는 것은 그 지역의 미래를 통제하는 것이다’는 말은 무슬림 아이들을 한족 환경에서 교육받게 하는 중국 공산당 캠페인의 뒤에 숨겨진 슬로건인 것 같다.

단지 신앙 때문에 신자들이 자유, 그리고 가족을 잃어가고 있다. 전능하신 하나님 교회(전능신교회) 신도인 베수치(貝淑奇) 2017년 중국 동북부 헤이룽장(黑龍江)성 다칭(大慶)시에서 하나님을 믿는다는 이유만으로 체포되었다.

중국 당국이 기독교인들의 경배와 설교의 능력을 빼앗기 위해 기이한 사유들을 고안해내고 있다. 이번에 새로이 만들어진 사유는 설교자의 나이다.
