에드워드 아이언은 홍콩 출신의 저명 연구자이자 컨설턴트이며 중국 문화 및 종교에 관한 저자이기도 하다. 또한 중국 신흥 종교 및 지도층 연구 전문가로 2000년 버클리 연합 신학대학원(Graduate Theological Union)에서 박사학위를 수료했다. 자신이 2003년에 설립한 홍콩 문화통상종교연구소(Hong Kong Institute for Culture, Commerce and Religion)의 소장으로 활동하고 있다.
