2주만에 하나의 현(縣)에서 48개의 관영 교회가 폐쇄돼

장시성 위간현의 개신교도들은 지난 수년 동안 중국 공산당의 박해에 시달렸다. 코로나19로 인한 봉쇄 조치가 해제되자 탄압이 재개되었다.

중국 공산당은 종교 ‘중국화’ 정책을 진전시키기 위해 국가의 승인을 받지 않은 신앙 관련 자료들을 압수하는 단속을 시작하였다.

시진핑의 빈곤 구제 정책 마감 시한을 맞추기 위해 중국 현지에서는 코로나바이러스 사태가 한창인 와중에도 농부들의 집은 물론이고 경작지까지도 파괴하고 있다.

위구르인 학생들을 신장 위구르 자치구에서 멀리 떨어진 기숙 학교로 보내 그들을 ‘중국화’하려는 베이징의 정책을 살펴보는 내용의 책이 티모시 그로즈(Timothy Grose)에 의해 출간되었다.

중국 공산당이 ‘코로나바이러스를 무찌른 위대한 사회주의의 저력’ 운운하는 사이에도 제대로 치료받지 못해 목숨을 잃는 사람들의 비극적인 사연들은 계속된다.
